Wanna know how to live Zero Waste in Amsterdam ? The city of Amsterdam provides all the properties needed for a complete shift course. From linear to circular – with more than 60 % of inner city trips taking place on carbon neutral two wheels the dutch capital is a forerunner in moving towards a zero waste society.

Applying Kate Raworth’s doughnut economics model Amsterdam rolled out a Circular Strategy for 2020 – 2025 to ensure a good life within Earth’s natural boundaries. By 2025 the government plans to reduce CO2 emissions by 45% compared to 1990, halve the use of new raw materials and food waste by 2030 and adapt to a fully circular economy by 2050

By shortening food chains, providing organic waste processing, making the most of discarded products and setting circular standards for the built environment a sustainable living within one generation is secured.

Amsterdam – a city that provides the fertile soil needed to plant seeds and make them grow for future generations. Pioneers like the Little Plant Pantry, DIY soap or Plasticfree Amsterdam pave the way to a major transformation – making living zero waste on a day-to-day basis feasible. As you can see, it’s the hard working individuals that help change consumers’ decisions to the better.
